Centrolina is delighted to welcome Chef Henji Cheung of Queen's English for a one-night-only Chef’s Table collaboration with Chef Amy Brandwein, an eight-time James Beard Award nominee (2026 Semifinalist for Outstanding Restaurant, 2025 Semifinalist for Outstanding Chef, and six-time nominee for Best Chef: Mid-Atlantic).
Hosted in Centrolina’s intimate Chef’s Salon on June 3rd, this special evening will feature a collaborative tasting menu celebrating seasonal ingredients, personal storytelling, and the dynamic intersection of Italian and Hong Kong culinary influences.
Born in Hong Kong and raised in Brooklyn, Chef Henji Cheung brings a deeply personal and globally informed perspective to his cooking. After studying culinary arts at Johnson & Wales University, he built an impressive career through acclaimed kitchens including Balthazar, The Ritz-Carlton New York, Catch NYC, The Lion, The Little Beet Table, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. He also served as Executive Chef of the W South Beach, where he led the hotel’s opening culinary program.
Today, Chef Henji and his wife Sarah helm Queen's English, the celebrated Washington, DC restaurant known for its vibrant Hong Kong-inspired cuisine, bold flavors, and exceptional hospitality. The restaurant has earned Michelin Bib Gourmand recognition, multiple placements among Washington’s Top 100 Restaurants, and was named #2 on Tom Sietsema’s Fall Dining Guide in 2022. In 2025, Chef Henji was nominated for the James Beard Award for Best Chef: Mid-Atlantic.
For this special collaboration, Chef Henji and Chef Amy will craft a menu inspired by heritage, seasonality, and the experiences that have shaped their culinary journeys—offering guests an intimate opportunity to experience two distinctive chefs cooking side by side for one unforgettable evening.
